It’s that time of year: please check heads for Lice

liceLice often spreads through schools at this time of year. We have had one case. Please check your child’s head and please continue to report any cases like this promptly to Nataly Alves or the teachers so that we can inform the rest of the parents and be pro-active.

Here is some useful information about treatment and prevention:

The resource section of is quite helpful, in particular their Head Lice Help Kit which outlines facts, myths, and prevention tips.

Pumpkin Hunt: Volunteers Needed

pumpkin huntHello RYRNS Beaver and Chipmunk Parents!
Volunteers needed!!

Our little chipmunks and beavers will be going on a pumpkin hunt (weather permitting) to Lora Hill park on October 29 during school hours. In order for the students to be able to go on this fun adventure, we require 8 caregiver volunteers per class. Since we need all eyes on the students, if you plan on bringing a sibling along with you, you will not count as a volunteer.

The sign up sheet will be posted on the bulletin board in the hallway outside of the classrooms as of tomorrow morning. Please write your name down so that we can be sure we have enough volunteers in order to go. Parents and caregivers are welcome.

In the case of poor weather, the pumpkin hunt will be held at the school and we will not need volunteers to walk to the park. All students should wear their RYRNS red t-shirt.

School Closure: Amazon Play Date Oct 23

amazon playAs per our discussion at the general meeting, there is no school Wednesday, October 23rd for Beavers and Chipmunks; however, we have arranged a private play time at Amazon Indoor Play place on Royal York Road (north of Bloor) from 9.15-11.30 am.

In order to secure our booking, we need to know who is planning to attend – every child must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver.

Please respond ASAP as we will be calling to confirm numbers this Friday, October 11th.

Despite the fact that Squirrels do not have school that day, they are also welcome to attend with a parent or caregiver.

Please email Michelle on the Events Committee with your child’s name and class and whether you will be bringing any siblings.
