Health & Safety Reminder

October 9, 2014 at 4:10 pm

UnknownCold and flu season (and other germs) is here.  To help maintain your families health, and the health of other RYRNS families, please remember:
1. Do not send your child to school if any of the following occur: vomiting, diarrhea, fever, contagious viruses, pinkeye, or any infections (ear, throat etc.)

 2. Please notify the Health and Safety Monitor if your child is not well, and will not be attending school.  You can reach Rebecca at  Notifying Rebecca ensures teachers are aware of your child’s absence.  It can also help other RYRNS parents, as we can share relevant health promotion and prevention tips.  Only information on a specific illness is shared.  Families are not identified when sharing health promotion/prevention information.

3. As noted in a previous email, the Health Promotion and Protection Act requires  us to report when an enrolled child may have a reportable disease or may be infected with a communicable disease.  This information can also be submitted to  Again, your privacy will be respected when collecting relevant medical information.
4. Washing your hands correctly (or using an alcohol-based hand rub) is the most effective thing you can do to protect yourself against germs. Not only will it help keep you healthy, it will help prevent the spread of infectious diseases to others.  Remember to wash your hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
Also, our intrepid Miss Maria is home recovering from flu-like symptoms.  She is on the mend and expects to return to school on Tuesday.  Nursery programs will continue as usual, with extra help from our teaching staff.
Thank you all for your help in keeping RYRNS healthy.
